2024 Recap!

Happy New Year!

2024 was more of a casual round year than a heavy tournament year for me. I didn't really get things going until the Michigan weather finally improved in March, and then I finally got in some casual rounds at home to prep for local spring tournaments. Although I didn't take down any wins in those tournaments, I definitely improved compared to my performance in those tournaments last year and had some great company on the course.

End of April brought Champions Cup at the infamous Northwood Black course. Not being too far away, it was an easy opportunity to see the course and take in the first major of the year.

In May, Brian and I hit the road for the DGPT Portland swing. First up was the Portland Open, then Beaver State Fling. Glendoveer was sneaky hilly and the mature trees made for beautiful scenery. The weather was very pleasant until Sunday, when the stereotypical rain kicked in. Beaver State Fling was HOT, very exciting (especially that FPO finish!), and it was neat to see Nate Doss back in action on Friday. Speaking of, be sure to hit up his brewery, Bevel Craft Brewing, if you're ever in the Bend, OR area. The beer is great and the two-basket putting course out back behind the food trucks adds to the fun vibe...especially when you get to play the putting course with Nate Perkins :)

Highlights of the summer were playing a local course on the 4th of July near where I grew up in the middle of Michigan with some friends that were back in town, and then playing Idlewild a few weeks after the DGPT came through there.

Fall brought DGLO where Brian and I volunteered three of the four days, mostly scorekeeping. We desperately need scorekeepers and I can't recommend it enough! It's a great way to see the action from up close and offer the players something they really need. In October we headed to western Canada for vacation and played some great courses in Vancouver and Calgary.

2024 was a great year for disc golf. I got to play 12 new courses and take in 4 DGPT events. I hope to see you on the course in 2025! Until then...keep on throwing!
