Baker Park, Calgary, AB

Looking for a well-travelled, well-manicured course in a central location? Baker Park might be just what you’re looking for. It’s a beautiful course located on the Bow River, but the water doesn’t really come into play.

There are multiple layouts and the Silver Layout had just gone into effect when I played. You’ll see some tee pads blocked off as they’re used in a different layout. Signage is awesome and added to the top-notch experience.

There was a mix of open and wooded holes, most were open with wide fairways. Hole 5 was a VERY tight, wooded fairway that gave me fits. 🤬. The back nine is definitely longer than the front nine. It’s situated in a public park but the holes are well-placed away from other park traffic. My only critiques would be the inconsistency in hole lengths between the front and back nines, and the lack of elevation (hard to really change that, though!).

I’d consider it a must-visit when in the Calgary area, since it’s such a scenic and well kept course. Wind didn’t seem to be as much a factor as with other courses in the area. Enjoy! Until next time…get out and throw!
